Michael Cusack was born in this cottage on Sept. 20th, 1847. His passion for hurling, football and all Irish sports led him to founding the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association) in 1884. His love of the Irish language saw him become editor of a weekly paper, the “United Ireland”. His cottage still stands today beautifully restored,  a museum containing his life story is located close by where visitors are welcome to step back into a major part of Irish history.
