Kylemore Abbey is the ideal destination for a day out in majestic Connemara at any time of year. The Abbey is a Benedictine monastery founded in 1920 when the Benedictines nuns fled Belgium during World War 1. They opened a boarding school for girls and began restoring the Abbey, Gothic Church and Victorian walled gardens to their former glory.
